Be-ing.

I've started drinking coffee on a regular basis lately. Well, it's because I finally ran out of condensed milk and I was lazy to go shopping. I know the supermarket is just 3 minutes walk from my flat but spending less on unhealthy food is a blessing-in-disguise for my sheer laziness. Coffee has very little effect on me and I do drink strong, dark coffee. Without milk, I drank them black with sugar. Wow, my tastebuds is reintroduced to the watery taste of coffee.

I make them in the morning, keeping the coffee bag for a half-cup by evening. Oh the morning cup of coffee is like some kind of elixir for the enhancement of concentration. I can read and do my work without fail for several hours! Then I'll make brunch and dinner, chat with friends and family online; gaming for an hour or so before taking my half cup of coffee and read again. I hope this lasts... I need it.

So me and my client were chatting away as usual her early bird hours meet my late nights. We have bumped into each other a few times online which was quite spooky the first few times... kind of used to it now. But when we chatted just now we could even think of the same things. Sunday morning and Maroon 5... then:

19 times EPL champions. Sheer luck.

The Bad Times Roll.

The gap year is coming to its most challenging time yet. Yes, monetary problems have finally struck. Not that I overspent... but I fell victim to debit card fraud. Most likely to be the card skimming fraud according to the bank. Although I'm not liable for any of the losses but I'm doomed for this month. My account has been emptied (darn you bastards) and have been effectively suspended pending investigation. I have no methods of obtaining cash at all! All I have with me is £60; just enough for food and bills. Thank goodness for PayPal; I can still pay some bills online.

How do I tell my parents about this? They're going to be worried sick. Both of them must be enjoying each others' company now since my mum will be in Indonesia for almost a month till mid-May. Oh yes, a check on my credit card... valid until May!

See, it's my mum's fault for saying stuff like: "Dear, the credit card is going to expire in May. Any emergencies remember to use it before May okay?"

I was like, mum, how can I spend before emergencies occur? Now I know how...

Well I had only told like 3 friends about this and only one of the three is a friend in UK. I guess there is no point telling others and make them fret about my personal issues when the exam clock is ticking down. So, what should I do when I get past this hurdle? (I know for sure I can live with £30 a month; rent and bills non-inclusive)

The Second from Abroad.

Oh my room feels so empty now after my friends from Aberystwyth had left. The last weekend was absolutely amazing. I had met a bunch of wonderful people and what a great time despite the crazy weather. It rained for the whole day in Manchester; typhoon-strong wind in Leeds but we were rewarded with the nice sun in Chester. The worst was the wind in Leeds... we were almost blown away and had to hang on to a post! Then there were people taking pictures of us from inside of their car... how embarrassing!

I had cultural revival this Chinese New Year thanks to the influence of my new friends. Learned many new things from them and I was amazed by their reunion dinner.

They created fancy Chinese New Year themed names for their dishes!!! Really amazing!

I was not excluded from trying to be festive as well... I had themed nails! Take note of my advice... never EVER paint your nails under the incandescent light. The colours looked different! I mistook the pink for orange and to my horror; the supposed mandarin orange looked anything but orange. Comments include:

  • Caterpillar?
  • Strawberries?
  • Devilish oranges?
As my friend said: "AHAHAH FAIL CARLY FAILLLLL"

2.0.1.2

I'm sure most people have watched the-apocalypse-end-of-the-world movie; 2012. I haven't but I know basically the Mayan calendar ends in 2012 signifying end of the world. I have made numerous jokes on various occasions regarding to this "prediction". Most of the time just to enlighten my friends when they're stressed.

However, I was left baffled when I read this:

And then:

I guess this is it people... the end is near.

So, what would you do if your life ends in 2012? No New Year resolutions; make a long to-do list instead. HAHAHA!

3 Non-Coloured Pills Evoked Me Alter-Ego.

Nothing like a healthy me stalking up the net late at night. I've actually receiving complaints via Facebook, MSN Messenger and even my handphone now.

"SICK PEOPLE MUST GET MORE REST!"

"why are u still awake??"

"you no need to sleep one ah Carly Yap"

I guess I should really rest... long weekend is closing in. Nottingham/Liverpool/Cheshire Oak. Then my long awaited Jenny & Johnny concert.

It's amazing how medicine can cloud your judgment. Let me list out my scenarios:

#1 - Never check budget airline website when you're all drugged up

My friend had been wanting a trip for so long but no plan was on the table really. Then she suggested GERMANY and I was browsing through Ryanair website. £6 for tickets to Dusseldorf. And the rest is history. I'll be in Germany from 15th till 22nd December. Just pray that I'll get my passport by then.

#2 - Never make promises before you start thinking straight

A friend who came over my place a few weeks ago was thinking of running away from her "incoming-snow-blizzard" Sunderland and I was like... COME COME COME! Even talked about food and which restaurants to eat at. When she messaged me about the traveling dates and timing I even stamped my approval. Not until this afternoon when the medication was off; I REMEMBERED THAT I HAD A CONCERT TO ATTEND! It broke her heart, once when she heard about it but I flattened her lifeline when I mentioned my Germany trip. And now, she's
d.e.a.d.c.a.n.n.o.t.c.o.p.e.w.i.t.h.t.h.e.n.e.w.s

#3 - NEVER EVER, talk nonsense and try to get them materialized

Planning on a blog for short stories? Ideas all cropped up when I was drugged but once they wore off writer's block hit me like a hard block of CEMENT. Period.

Summer in Anticipation.

Surprise surprise; AirAsia is giving out free tickets, albeit limited, to major flights within Asia. That being said, good luck clicking your way through the site to look for the relevant dates with free flights. I got free ones to Macau for three and that's my only accomplishment. Luckily the site didn't crash while I was making reservations.

Then tickets to Phuket at relatively low prices; no thanks to temptation from my client. I'd always thought that Phuket is like the "Island of Temples" where most senile citizens would go for vacation on a bus ride. Guess I'll just have to find out next summer.

I guess I'll be back in Malaysia next July after all. Simply cannot wait.

90's Baby

"Back to the 80's"; Aqua's comeback single a year ago. I love Aqua, always have and will always do. I know it's weird but they're the first band that I'm really crazy over for. All their songs, all their music videos... even when Lene went solo. I followed the progress. Just still in disbelief that they actually sang "Turn Back Time" which was like my high school anthem.

However, the main celebrity of my 90's is not Aqua. It's this man called Duncan Sheik.

If you have been listening to the radio since the beginning of your kindergarten; he hogs the chart. Every single day you will hear him on the radio and the TV. Now, he's a big time composer having written songs for the coming-to-age musical; Spring Awakening. (how very ironic, spring is when mammals breed)

Might I say, I'd love to have this guy as my dad. Not a girl crush per se, but I really admire him.

Thanks to my parents, my 90's have a hint of 80's. Roxette. Who doesn't know them? SLAP yourself if you don't know them. After all these years, her hairstyle still hasn't changed. Even after her cancer; still the same. In the early 2000 they released a song called "A Thing About You". You ain't going to like it unless you're their big fan. Big departure from their friendly, hip and happy hits.

Well I can't blame you if you don't know this band. They're called of Ace of Base. Only TV and radio listeners at age 6 will know them. Famous for songs such as "All That She Wants" and "The Sign", you know it's them when the tune starts. Didn't really dig deep into their current music. I prefer their radio friendly songs.

Here's a girl band that I swear YOU DON'T KNOW. But just put up with me for this is the last of the 80's bands. Wilson Phillips; combination of two powerful celebrity families. They're so good during the early 90's. I think they even did a Japan tour or something. However, their management was so keen on promoting a good image that they kept censoring off the fatter sister from the videos, promotional tours and pictorials. It didn't take long for them to break up and now I don't know what they're doing. I just know that Bijou Phillips (Paris Hilton-esque) is the Phillips' clan step-sister.

Nearing the 2000, The Cardigans. Those parents who let your children watched Romeo & Juliet (starring Leonardo DiCarpio and Claire Danes) shame on you! Also, Cruel Intentions. These two movies are so totally 15SX-ish and I had only watched them at age... 15. HAHAHA! Well, I found out that "Lovefool" was really big after it was featured in Romeo & Juliet. However, I have heard it on the radio... so mesmerizing. They're still producing hits now, though not internationally. Most of their songs are A-Ok.

The Corrs. Got to know them when I saw their video for the Mulan soundtrack. I'm not a fan of the 98 Degrees featuring Stewie Wonder one. The Corrs are the epitome of strong family bonds. And talented too. Just too bad that their company is no longer favoring them. Their songs still rock; albeit Irish-folk rock.

No 90's post will be perfect without a boyband. Yes, my first favorite boyband... 'N Sync. My favorite member? Lance who turned out to be gay. Most hated... *high five people!* JOEY! He's too old...

Sometimes I really wonder why am I studying Law when I can just blurt out information about these random celebrities. I should write a gossip blog that is 24/7 operational rumor mill. Heck, I already did that. Not my type. HAHAHA!

Here's to Starting Anew

Uncommon. Alien. Distraught.

Those are the words playing in my head when I tried to fix this new layout for my blog. I need a fresh start from my last blog. It was too mood-dampening to continue there. This new blog represents what I need exactly from a blog; an escape route.

TUESDAY.

It's the same song playing on a loop for 30 minutes now. Couldn't seem to find a perfect song to accompany my dissertation. Don't think I'll face those dreaded words anytime soon. And they told me that I was too ambitious in trying to write a political-science based jurisprudential topic. 12000 words seemed so much yet too few for my work. My first chapter had already swallowed 3000 words and though my supervisor adored my 'storytelling' ability; she told me that I really should narrow my scope down. For the first time those words lingered in my ears. All these years I simply had too few to write for my Law essays. Guess it's time for a change. Maybe.

Middle Temple Inn

I want to join this Law Inn. I don't know why but it appeals to me the most. Lately, I seemed to be making a lot of spontaneous, instantaneous lifetime decisions. I don't ponder like I used to or to think twice at all. So far, no decisions have been proved reckless but I don't think I am going to regret after all.

Let me introduce you to my BPTC School:

Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU)

I am still trying my darndest to get people to join me in this University. Everyone else never really took MMU into serious consideration. They would prefer the BPTC Schools in Leeds, Nottingham, London, Cardiff and even Northumbria. I am going to need someone to stay with me since I'll most likely to rent a three-bedroom house. Anyone interested at all?
